Call of Duty – Vanguard

Working on COD-Vanguard was a completely different experience than Advanced Warfare. Between the two games the team had launched COD-WWII and I had taken time away to teach and mentor college students game design and game production, while also parenting my first born who had extra support needs. The team I returned to was familiar but there were a lot of new people who had joined the Multi-player team and there was less of a need for me to take on leadership tasks. When I initially came back I was put on an unannounced project that was really exciting, but it was eventually tabled, to be finished at a later time. After that, I joined the Vanguard team to work on their DLC maps. After wrapping up the design for the map: Beheaded, I had my second child and a month after coming back after parental leave, the pandemic hit! I was gracefully given time off during the pandemic to tend to our family. With the oldest in kindergarten (over zoom!) and our youngest who was 6 months old, we were thrown into taking care of our kids full time. Despite my time getting cut short working on this game, I thoroughly enjoyed making MP maps again and although it wasn’t planned, I am so thankful for the time that Sledgehammer gave us to spend with our young kids.

Beheaded

Beheaded is a large map featuring the fallen head of the statue of liberty in the middle of the map. The player can get inside and shoot out of her forehead and crown. In addition the map features a collapsed section of the road leading to an underground subway section. Above the subway is a building and all along the perimeter the player can enter various structures.
